Inhabiting the Surrounds | Urban Studies Summer School, second appointment: 1-6th June, Lisbon

Next week in Lisbon takes place the second appointment of the Urban Studies Summer school co-organised by the Beyond Inhabitation Lab and the Urban Transitions Hub, ICS.

The School, titled Inhabiting the Surrounds: Urbanity, Critique and Speculative Practice, had its first moment in Turin last year, 23-26th September 2024. During those days, we hosted 15 postdoctoral fellows from all over Europe, who engaged in a collective conversation led by our exceptional keynote instructors – Ruthie Gilmore, Alana Osbourne and Tatiana Thieme (details here).

This time, the same 15 fellows will meet in Lisbon, where our collective conversation around inhabitation and its struggles will be led by AbdouMaliq Simone, Filip De Boeck and Ana Rita Alves. The organising of the Lisbon iteration has been led by our UTH colleagues, in particular by Irene Peano, Andrea Pavoni, Marco Allegra and Lavínia Pereira with the local organising team.

The keynotes will be open to the public, both online and offline. You can find all details in the posters below or on our events page. A collective reflection on the two events will be produced in due course – stay tuned.
